Roe ties the knot

A few days ago a friend of mine said in passing that there was a guy selling a lens on one of the camera forums that he follows. at that time i was kinda in the market for a new lens as all my current lenses are not image stabilased. Since i don't have a speed light, my photos are usually taken without a flash hence the shutter speeds are slower which in turn makes for photos that easily blur. that's when image stabilised lenses help. So, what better chance to to try out the lens than at Roe's wedding this morning! It's a 55mm-250mm lens so wide angle shots are not possible with this lens unfortunately, unless ofcourse i take it from Faaaarr away... like this:

I sms'ed Roe the night before asking about the time the nikah ceremony starts. The card indicated that it was from 9am to 12. I was just trying to test my luck in extending my sunday sleep time, esp after only finishing the previous post at 1am last night. I didn't get a reply from her, which was understandable since it was her wedding eve.

At 7 something am though i was "woken up" by an sms from Roe saying that the ceremony starts at 9am till 12. Since she said that, I immediately woke up and got ready - ironed my baju melayu and all. Since it was a Sunday morning and Masjid Wilayah isn't that far, i managed to arrive at 9.15 am, just in time for the Nikah Sermon. By then, the hall which wasn't that big was already full to the brim. I started taking pics from the end of the hall.

Not long after that it was already the time for the akad nikah!! As Roe's dad had passed away, she was given away by her eldest brother. OMG!! Dahlah the cameramen were swarming the stage for the akad, Bud pulak was too good. His lafaz was done in one smooth try! This guy was really good! didn't even break a sweat! Tak sempat I move to the front! When I did, he was already reading his wedding vows which is compulsory in Malaysian Syariah law. Think of it as a pre-nup... hehehe...

post akad nikah

The bride patiently watching at the events unfold...

Bud was quite natural on stage. Emotional but still managing to smile... He was more emotional than the bride! LOL =p

Alhamdulillah, you are officially married Pn Siti Rohani...

Next up was the exchange of wedding rings and and the handing over of the dowry (Mahr or mas kahwin) Again, the place was swamped by the photographers. But it's okay, they are the payed photographers. I did the best I could with the space i had.

Can you see the joy post Akad nikah... or is that a smile of relief?

Very nice dress, I love the bouquet!
On goes the ring....

 Then its the groom's turn

The Mahr....It was standard KL rate i think. I think Selangor's rate is abit on the expensive side but hey, who's complaining?

With all the formalities over, It was photo time! I didn't wait long since I didn't bring my wide angle lens. I just took a few shots before I proceeded to the food hall

I didn't have the wide angle lens to take photos of the hantaran. I managed to take a few shots though:

The best shot i managed to get of Ili and Nurul, the women behind the bride...

Recalling last night's post, "makanan harus sedap" and the words did not betray the person. The food was quite good. =) A bit heavy for breakfast but hey, Kelantanese and Javanese have rice for breakfast okay

After having my fill - I was so happy that they had caramel pudding though because it's one of my favourite desserts I can say that it was a tad too thick for my taste buds but that's just me. I prefer a lighter caramel pudding. We were presented with our door gifts at the table. Since I'm still fresh from my brother's door gift experience, the door gift quickly came under my scrutiny...

On first inspection, I LOVE the bag! hehehe, very elegant. When I opened the contents, BENCI!! hahaha... her Ma'thurat was so much nicer than the ones we gave out at My bro's wedding!! hehehe... They had their names printed on the OUTSIDE cover rather than the inside like ours. It's okay, it has the publisher's address on the inside so I know where to look next time. The chocolate was also one of my favourite flavours - Hazelnut! Then there's the obligatory boiled egg which post wedding last week I really had enough of. We had 2 boxes of boiled eggs leftover from the wedding which most of which were given away to relatives, neighbours and officemates but still, last week's dinners and lunches were of various boiled egg dishes! So, I won't be too excited about eggs for the next few weeks okay... All in all, excellent door gifts!! I like...

Right... gonna write about the Maher Zain concert after this. Congratulations Roe and Bud who's real name is very unique. In summary I would say that this wedding was a very simple but very sweet one. They are not having a seperate reception which is rather unusual but actually very unnecessary. U only do need to host a feast to announce the marriage. The rest is actually only cultural which if you do not see a need for, can be done without. Okay then, till the next wedding review... (cewah... mcm Nona pulak)...
